“It is with very heavy hearts that the committee of St Andrew’s Pantomime Group has had to take the decision to cancel our 2020/21 panto, which would have been Mother Goose, due to covid-19. Our priority is to ensure the safety of our members and audiences during the current pandemic and ongoing restrictions on indoor shows means that rehearsals, set-building and performing/attending productions is not viable at this time. Our current plan is to perform the show in the 2021/22 season, so in Continue reading →
As we near the show dates (just four short weeks away) we step up the rehearsal intensity – but as you can see we still mange to have lots of fun!
On Sunday the 8th December, Tim Boocock, the Minister at St Andrew’s in Beeston prepared a Carol Service with a difference. Not only was it created around a Pantomime theme but it also featured a retelling of the nativity from a woman’s perspective – well a man dressed as a woman, actually three men dressed as women to be precise. We learned that Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh were of little practical use to a new born baby and its mother, and in fact the Continue reading →
As many, if not all of you know, Alan Makinson, our long standing and much loved Musical Director, sadly passed away in January of 2017. It was a huge loss for the Group and, of course, even more so for his close-knit family. It has taken almost two years for Steve and Lisa to be able to organise a memorial concert in his name, which would serve as great testimony to his memory and a fund raiser for causes close to his heart. On Friday the 31st May and Saturday 1st June the kids and adults of St Andrew’s Pantomime Group performed in a Summer Variety show. There were rousing medleys ranging from Disney Musicals to songs with Colours in the words and an explosive opening from the Greatest Showman. There were sketches from the Doctor’s Surgery, the Opticians and a superb adaptation of Oliver by the St Andrew’s Kids entitled (in these days of equal opportunities) “Olivia”. There was even time for a presentation of our very Continue reading →
The variety show dates will soon be with us (31st May and 1st June 2019) and the cast are in full swing as far as rehearsals are concerned!
Duke Of York gives pantomime its second award
The Duke of York’s Community Initiative was founded in 1998 after HRH visited a York housing estate where inspiring residents had come together to resolve community problems. The Duke decided to found an Initiative to recognise the important contribution made by voluntary organisations for their work across Yorkshire. A large number of organisations from across the county have won awards for their valuable community service, which are presented at an annual ceremony in Yorkshire. Applications need to be owned, developed and led by the people they Continue reading →
Chairman’s Report March 2019 Welcome all to the St Andrew’s Pantomime Group 2019 AGM. Every year I seem to give a very similar opening to my report. Another successful year … 97%+ of all tickets sold … great feedback … everyone enjoyed themselves … and I do so without any regret over my repetition because these statements provide testimony to the continued success that our Group enjoys. St Andrew’s Pantomime is nothing if not contemporary with its production and this year’s wonderful show Continue reading →
